Strawberries and bananas are packed with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins, making this smoothie both delicious and nutritious. The chia seeds add omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for heart health. The yogurt adds a probiotic boost for digestion, keeping your furry friend’s tummy happy.

You can adjust the sweetness by adding a touch of honey to your smoothie if desired. Also, garnish with extra chia seeds or mint for a refreshing finish.

Cooking tips for pets and humans:

Avoid harmful ingredients: Avoid avocado and anything containing caffeine or alcohol as these can be harmful to your dogs. Onions, garlic, chocolate, grapes and raisins as well as certain nuts can be deadly.

Seasoning: Keep dishes bland for pets. Dogs can be very sensitive to salt and spices, which can cause gastrointestinal upset. It’s best to remove a portion for your dog before adding any seasonings for your own servings.

Consult your vet: New foods should always be checked with a veterinary doctor before being fed to dogs. This is important because it ensures safety and proper measurements, especially considering that different animals have varying nutritional needs based on health condition, age and size.

Frequently asked questions:

Can I use frozen strawberries or bananas? Yes! Frozen strawberries and bananas work just as well and can make the smoothie even more refreshing, especially on a warm day. Just adjust the ice or liquid to get the consistency you prefer.

Can I add other ingredients to the human version? Absolutely! You can add a handful of spinach or kale for extra nutrients, or a scoop of protein powder if you’re looking for a post-workout boost.

Is orange juice safe for pets? It’s best to avoid giving orange juice to pets, as it’s too acidic and contains sugars that might upset their stomach. Stick with plain water or unsweetened yogurt for the pet version.

Can I substitute the yogurt for something else? For humans, you can use almond milk, coconut water, or any milk of your choice. For pets, plain kefir or lactose-free yogurt can work as an alternative, but be sure to check for any added sweeteners.
